Geoff's off duty post...

I'm off duty for this year. After two 12 hour shifts and one 6 hour shift we have almost 100% of the groups safely tucked in here at Creation 2011. Now I get a chance to look at pix and post some. Some of these are mine, some are Karla's and some are Sarah's.

24 Candles

Dear Sarah, Happy Birthday to you!

Every year on Sarah's birthday we celebrate with cake, presents, prayer, memories, encouragement and a song. This year once again the family gathered to celebrate her birthday and sing the song, "This Little Light of Mine" that, for me has become the anthem song for my oldest girl. We are blessed to still have both sets of her grandparents with us and here to celebrate Sarah's birthday.

Our chalk board is decorated, as usual, for the party. Margaret wrote this one.

Granddaddy Sensenig is reading his poem to Sarah.
Praying for our girl.
Sarah and Margaret with the cake that does not have 24 candles but we just pretend... :)

Virginia

This past week our immediate family, grandparents on the Landis side, my Uncle Tim and Aunt Barbel, cousin Katrina, and Aunt Cheryl, went to Virginia to celebrate my grandpa's 80th birthday! Even though he doesn't live in Virginia, we just went there to make his 80th birthday special. We were there from May the 21st to the 23rd. Vinson, Joy, Sarah and I had fun playing Risk. It was Joy, Sarah and my first time playing. We also played tennis, watched movies, played other bored games, and air hockey. Also at the dinner table on Grandpa's birthday, (the 22nd) we took turns telling memories we had of him, and gave him gifts and cards. It was a fun 3 day vacation!

Here are some pictures my dad took:

progress

Here is a shot of my dad painting yesterday.
After dinner, which Margaret did an excellent job of making (baked chicken, potatoes, and green beans), our whole family went over to my mom's parents' place to help them set up their living room. They had new carpet installed (by Edwin Miranda) and a new bookcase/small entertainment center that my dad put together. The new set-up is easier for my grandpa. We moved their couch, tables, and chairs back into the room in a new format. Dad and Erin spent a lot of time setting up the TV and wiring. Erin is definitely the go-to guy around our house for anything tech related, and Dad is a pretty close second.

We got some pictures from Uncle Gene and Aunt Dima and their little girl Nour. What a cutie she is... We love them and can't wait to meet little Nour. Geoff.

Our Christmas

We started our Christmas season the Saturday after Thanksgiving with our annual traditional of making Candy houses after Thanksgiving.

This year we went to the Sensenig grandparents the second Saturday before Christmas. It was supposed to be the Saturday before but because granddaddy Sensenig was having surgery we bumped it up. we had a great time!
